Mould Treatment in Banstead

A preventative treatment programme for properties with a history of repeat mould growth.

Where mould has been present for several seasons, one-off cleaning rarely holds. Spores lodge in plaster, sealants and soft furnishings, and the surface conditions that supported them are usually structural — a cold reveal, an uninsulated lintel, a north-facing bedroom that is never heated. Treatment therefore has to change the environment, not just the surface.

Our treatment programme combines deep biocidal cleaning with practical fabric improvements: thermal upgrade coatings to raise surface temperatures, mould-inhibiting paint systems, replacement of failed sealants and, most importantly, ventilation that runs continuously at low volume rather than only when someone remembers to switch it on.

Common signs

  • Mould returning in the same place every winter
  • Staining that reappears through fresh paint within months
  • Growth spreading from window reveals across the ceiling line
  • Mould behind headboards, sofas and fitted wardrobes
  • Musty odour that lingers even when surfaces look clean

Likely causes

  • Untreated spores remaining in porous surfaces
  • Cold spots caused by uninsulated lintels, reveals and party wall junctions
  • Vinyl and non-breathable paints trapping moisture in plaster
  • Ventilation switched off or disconnected by occupants
  • Overcrowded rooms and unvented tumble dryers

Our method

How we diagnose and resolve the problem

01

Surface and substrate testing

We check whether plaster is contaminated with hygroscopic salts or simply cold, as the treatment differs.

02

Deep biocidal clean

Affected areas are treated, allowed dwell time and re-treated, with sealants replaced where growth is embedded.

03

Thermal and coating upgrade

Insulating render or breathable anti-mould coatings raise surface temperature above dew point.

04

Ongoing control

Continuous-run ventilation and, where useful, a humidity monitor so you can see conditions staying in range.

We give every client a short written maintenance plan — heating, ventilation and furniture placement — so the improvement lasts.

Questions

Mould Treatment FAQs

How long does treatment take?

Most homes are completed in one to three days depending on the number of rooms and whether ventilation works are included.

Do anti-mould paints work?

They slow regrowth but are not a cure on their own. Used after biocidal cleaning and alongside ventilation they are very effective.

Is the treatment safe for children and pets?

Yes, once dry. We advise keeping treated rooms clear for a few hours and ventilating during application.
